Vaquero CASA- the Mini Leather Owls!

Vaquero CASA- the Mini Leather Owls!

Owls are an amazingly diverse and interesting family of birds. They play a prominent role in the Harry Potter books and have had symbolic roles in many cultures. Why are owls so interesting?

The creature's keen ability to see through darkness, obscurity, and symbolic ignorance, made it synonymous with education and intellect. These traits have sparked people's interest in owls for thousands of years.  In Greek and Roman mythology, the goddess of wisdom, Pallas Athena or Minerva, was symbolized by an owl. In Taiwan, Owls are the babies-delivering birds/baby guardians for the aboriginal tribes. In Japan, the name for owl Fukuro フクロウ (梟)which can be written in different sets of characters, meaning of Luck (福 fuku, luck; 来ku, to come ;郎 ro suffix used in boys' names) . With this play on words owls have been given different attributions and have become popular as engimono,Japanese for lucky charms.

In modern Japan, it is common for people to possess an owl of some sort. Not a real-live one, of course, but perhaps a figurine, doll, painting, stuffed animal or even just a cartoon image of these instantly recognizable, flat faced birds .(Just like  the same manner that some Americans always have a rabbit's foot in their pocket. )
